Tigers fall to NCAA DII Davenport on final possession

The Grace men's basketball team was one shot away from their second win over an NCAA DII team in their 57 year program history on Monday night.  The Davenport Panthers, now members of the GLIAC conference, knocked down a clutch shot to take the lead with just seconds remaining and escape with an 80-78 victory.

After falling behind by 21 points early in the 1st half, the Tigers played a pristine game, outscoring the Panthers by 26 to take a 5 point lead with 2:30 remaining. The Panthers then went on a shooting spree, finishing the game by knocking down a three-point shot with 13 seconds to take the lead back. The Tigers would unfortunately commit a turnover on the next possession.

Senior Adam Rayner had a great overall game with 15 points on 6-6 shooting and 12 rebounds.  Adam Kregel had 14 points, while Caleb Anderson and Hunter Greer pitched in 13 and 12, respectively.  Brandon Winchester-Jones scored 11 points while dishing out 8 assists and 5 steals.

The Tigers fall to 4-6 on the season headed into another match-up with an NCAA DII team this Wednesday, Saginaw Valley State University.
