Greenville, SC - The Grace Tigers fell 94-84 to host school Bob Jones University Friday night in the NCCAA DII Semifinals, in front of a packed crowd of 2,400 people at the Bruins' Davis FIeldhouse.
Grace would give it all they had for the entire 40 minutes, but they could not overcome stellar play from Bob Jones as well as an underwhelming shooting night from outside, finishing 9-36 from three (25%). Sophomore
Adam Kregel led the Tigers with 26 points and 11 rebounds, while junior
Caleb Anderson finished with 15 points. Senior
Adam Rayner seemed to assert his dominance at times, but unfortunately battled foul trouble in both the first and second half. He finished with 9 points. Bob Jones' All-American guard Nate Ellenwood had an effort that was difficult to overcome for the Tigers, as he scored 34 points, pulled down 12 rebounds, and dished out 11 assists.
The loss knocks the Tigers out of championship contention, but they will have a chance to finish the season off on a winning note Saturday afternoon against Johnson University-Tennessee at 12:30 pm in the NCCAA DII 3rd place game.
