Box Score 2 Nashville, TN – The Tigers men's basketball team moves to 17-8 on the year after a 2-0 weekend at the Welch Classic in Tennessee over the weekend. They started things off with an 86-64 win over host Welch College, and followed up with a 90-64 win over Crowley's Ridge College. In both games the Tigers developed a significant lead early and held it throughout, and Head Coach Gary Bailey was able to play everybody on his roster significant minutes.
Junior Adam Kregel led the Tigers on Friday with 15 points against Welch. Seniors Caleb Anderson and Bernard Smith both had 12 points to lead a very balanced attack for the Tigers on Saturday against Crowley's Ridge, where 14 players found the scoring column.
"It was a really great weekend," commented Bailey. "I love it when we can play everybody substantial minutes. This time of year it's important to stay healthy and we were able to do both. I love our own selfish play and how this team really has bonded this season."
Aside from basketball, on their trip the Tigers took the time to visit an elementary school that former Grace national champion Adam Peterson (2006) now is the Assistant Principal, Una Elementary School.
"Going to former player Adam Peterson's school was an awesome time," added Bailey. "It was probably the most diverse student body I have ever seen. It's always interesting how our game like basketball can bring everyone together for at least a short time."
The Tigers return to action on their home floor for Senior Night Tuesday night at 7:00 pm on Tuesday.
