Nashville, TN – It is officially tournament time for the Grace men's and women's basketball teams, both anticipating a very competitive regional tournament at Welch College in Nashville, TN to end this week. The teams will hit the road Wednesday for a day of travel and Thursday will be occupied with All-Region voting and coaches meetings as well as practices for each team. The first round will also take place on Thursday, but both the Grace men and women earned the #1 seed and they will each have an automatic spot in Friday's semifinals. Friday morning will be the Regional banquet, where awards including All-Region teams will be announced.
Both teams ended their regular seasons on a tear and enter into the postseason on a roll, with the women winning their past 7 games and the men winning their last 8.
The women's semifinal opponent is set, with the Tigers facing #4 seed Welch College, who is not to be overlooked as they are playing in their home gym. Tip-off will take place at 5:00 pm Friday evening. The men will follow the women's game at 7:00 pm, taking on the winner of Wednesday's game between Simmons College (#4) and Campbellsville Harrodsburg (#5). A win for either team would give them a birth to the 2020 Mideast Regional Championship, which will take place on Saturday at 1:00 pm for the women and 3:00 pm for the men.
"This week we begin a new path, we begin a new season," said Grace Head Coach
CB Long on the Grace women's basketball Twitter feed. "This week we are focused. We are driven. We are one team. We have one mission. We play for one God. We play one game at a time. #TODAYWEAREONE!"
