Tigers sign 6'3" guard Nate Lauer

Head Coach Gary Bailey and the Grace Christian University men's basketball staff are excited to announce the addition of Nate Lauer, a 6'3" guard out of Grand Rapids, MI. Nate, who was considered one of Prep Hoops' Top 50 players in the state, recently signed his National Letter of Intent after committing back in February.

Nate was a four-year starter for the Grand Rapids Angels, one of the top-tier homeschool high school basketball programs in the country under Head Coach Greg Endsley and Assistant Paul Lauer.  He did a little bit of everything for the Angels, averaging 13 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals per game throughout his career.  As a senior captain, he finished his final year with All-State and All-Midwest Region accolades, leading the Angels to Regional and State Championships. The Angels were ranked #4 headed into the Homeschool National Tournament in Missouri before the season came to a halt due to COVID-19. Aside from high school basketball, Nate played for Michigan Basketball Academy's AAU team for four years – two on their National Team.

"We are so happy to have Nate and his family as part of the Grace Tigers," said Coach Bailey. "Nate had an outstanding career in the homeschool league.  We love Nate's game and it will translate well to what we do at the college level. He is a great find for us and we look forward to the next four years with Nate and his family."

Nate joins a Grace squad that finished #1 in the NCCAA in 2020 and won the NCCAA DII National Championship in 2018.

When asked why he chose Grace, Nate responded, "I desire a Christian based faith and because of the winning history and coaching staff. I'm excited to go where I felt wanted and could contribute to winning a National Championship."

Nate, who will wear the #33 jersey for the Tigers next season, will be pursuing a degree in business at Grace.
