Box Score Asbury, KY – The Grace Tigers took the court on Tuesday afternoon to face the highly-talented Asbury College Eagles in the second game of their Kentucky road trip. The Tigers played well in short spurts, but a slow start and slow finish would ultimately doom them in the end, suffering a 92-74 loss.
The Tigers' slow start allowed a 17-point lead from the Eagles midway through the first half, but a strong finish to the half would bring them within striking distance headed into the break at 47-38. They would be able to trim their deficit to five points early in the second half before a 10-0 run from the Eagles gave them a comfortable lead that they would not surrender for the rest of the game. The sharpshooting from the Eagles was difficult to overcome, as they recorded 19 three-point field goals when it was all said and done – the most allowed by a Tigers team since 2018.
Jarius Shumpert led the Tigers with 16 points, followed by
Kellum Bridgeforth with 14.
The Tigers, now 2-3 on the year, continue their stretch of games this week in Kentucky with an NCCAA regional match-up against Campbellsville-Harrodsburg Wednesday night at 7:00 pm.
