Box Score Grand Rapids, MI – The Grace Christian University Men's basketball team traveled across town to face NCAA DII Davenport University Wednesday night in their first of two DII exhibitions this week.
Grace would find themselves within 5 points with 5 minutes remaining in the first half, but a run to close out the half would give the Panthers a cushion they would hold for the remainder of the game. The second half was played very evenly, and that was good enough for the Panthers in an 88-69 win. This game, as well as Friday's match-up with Saginaw Valley State University, will be counted officially for the opponent, but will not count towards the Tigers' W/L record or official season statistics as they were designated exhibitions prior to the season.
Allen Briggs and
Bankeys Omari both continued their hot streak on the offensive end, leading the Tigers with 17 and 14 points, respectively.
Isaac DeVisser led Grace in rebounds with 6, with the Tigers struggling overall in that area against the Panthers' size advantage, as they were outrebounded by 19.
After traveling to SVSU Friday, the Tigers return to Grand Rapids for a crucial match-up with regional opponent Kuyper College at Kuyper to attempt to retain the Cross Town Cup.
